"Dogma" by Kevin Smith

there was a little debacle a few days ago about jehovah is a dickhead and starts shit for nothing and kills his people.
but there's a movie that was written and directed by kevin smith named dogma.

Well Dusty, I went out and rented Dogma last weekend.
Gotta say, I enjoyed it!
One of my fav scenes is when Matt's character Loki is talking to the nun in the airport:
...but to me it says that following these faiths based on mythological figures ensure the destruction of one's inner-being. Organized religion destroys who we are by inhibiting our actions... by inhibiting our decisions, out of... out of fear of some... some intangible parent figure who... who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says... and says, "Do it--Do it and I'll f@^kin' spank you."
Or the gun shop when Loki & Bartleby are talking about mass murder at the gun shop and then tell the gun shop owner that "They'll take it!"

That is so hypocritical that the 'friends' can hold your baby after a meeting, but you have to sit ourtside in the cold because they aren't allowed to talk to you.

Glad you and your fam is out and that you're not busting your behind trying to get grandparents to pay attention to their grandkids when all the grandparents do is hurt all of you.

Glad to hear that you have Awakened to the truth about the WTS.
I DA'd myself last year Nov/Dec, best thing that I ever did for myself since being a JW for 15+ years.
Good luck on escaping with your hubby. Some here are able to esacpe with their spouses.
Others, like myself, are finding it difficult to get out with our spouses.

in another post about a book called the crisis of conscience that was a suggested read.

Another goofy JW family story. Each one posted here is just as twisted as the next in it's own right.
I'm glad that you finally feel free to explore your spirtual side, it is something all of us should address to be Interdependent with Humanity.
Whether it is through X-tianity, Jewish, Islam, Budism, Nature, Pagan, etc..., each path is best determined by the enlightened individual.
BTW, can you break up your posts into paragraphs? I almost went into seizures squinting trying to read your last post
Plus, you'll get more repsonses as people will be more inclined to read a post properly formatted.

The other book that should be read IMO early as a JW exits the WTS is:
I recommend that because an existing JW always wants to know:
"If this is the wrong GROUP, then which GROUP is right?
I know i sure did.
I wanted to trade one set of lock and stock answers for another predefined set of answers.
Groups are beneficial to an extent, but are like loaded guns:
...they can be the most dangerous of tools in the wrong hands, and the uneducated can be easily manipulated if they are not aware of group dynamics.
This goes not just for religions, but also for political parties, nationalistic ideals, race agendas, unions, etc..., you name it.
Don't jump out of the frying pan and into the fire of another dangerous group.
Learn to think for yourself, develop your AUTHENTIC INNER SELF and grow from the healthy tension that exists in one's life as you live your TRUE LIFE in-between group definitions and you become beyond catagorization. Don't let anyone slap a label on you.
When you become wholly part of a group and let it define who you are as a person,
...the group will then also define who your enemies are... before you even meet them.
Now go out there and enjoy YOUR LIFE

Are the bloodcards being replaced?
by truthseeker init is well known among those here, that there were no blood cards issued this year.
for the first time in years, it is now no longer necessary to wait an extra half hour after the meeting to get an elder and a friend to sign it.. at the book study this week, the book study overseer said that we will have to renew our dpi forms (i think that's the right abbreviation) and that we would prayfully consider our options on use of non blood treatments.. is this the way things are going?
if there are no bloodcards for a 2nd year in a row, what will this mean?

for me a couple of weeks ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.
i looked at my wife and went "what"??

I was on my way out in June of last year.
After letting my wife know that I was having doubts, we went to the Sunday meeting seperately. I showed up during the WT Study.
The WT study had a gem at the end that woke me up. I posted this to the board here last year, and I am reposting this part for this thread:

The congregation is being led by the WT conductor through the review questions. And the final question I believe asks, to paraphrase, ?How are we to view apostates??
Well this is so easy our conductor does a little game that I am sure others have seen done at their congregation also. He asks for all the children to answer at once.
And the answer is? Well, the answer that the young children are to repeat is, ?HATE?.
?hate? , the young mouths murmur.
The conductor doesn?t care for the level of the response he receives the first time around. So he asks the question again. Parents are starting to coach their children to say the desired answer, ?Hate?.
?Hate?, the little ones say with growing confidence.
The response is better, but still, it?s just not good enough.
?I know you can do better than that!?
And now, in one resounding, unified accord we get the real message of the WTS from the mouth of babes:
?HATE!?
My heart sank.
The WTS breeds hate, and I was an accomplice to this for over 15 years.
Man I hope that the WTS was right about one thing; please don?t let there be a fiery hell of eternal torment.
Because for the first time in my life, I am truly in fear of it.

After that study, I realized part of the problem I was having w/the WTS was me trying to hate everyone. I was sooooo sick of it.
Hating people just wasn't my makeup. Being forced to hate everyone who wasn't a 10+ hour/month JW was killing me.
I knew before this study that the WTS wasn't the God directed organization that it made itself out to be. But after that study, it really woke me up to the process of how the WTS inculcates hate into all JW's from their "youth on up".
It scared the hell outta me.
